We are looking for two qualified and HCPC registered Social Workers to join our busy Special Guardianship Order Assessment Team based in Horsham but covering the county and beyond; to undertake Special Guardianship Order (SGO) assessments and Connected Persons Fostering Assessments. You will have a history of working on complex assessments including Special Guardianship Orders, Adoption, Fostering or parenting assessments.  You will be required to observe contact and meet children and families whilst conducting your assessment. You should have excellent report writing skills and be able to present your reports verbally to relevant panels and court.  West Sussex is currently using both Signs of Safety and Secure Base models and experience or understanding of these models would be preferred.

You will need to be able to meet quality assurance, court and panel submission dates. You will preferably be experienced in court work. 

Our practice framework is based on Signs of Safety underpinned by knowledge of attachment and the impact of developmental trauma on children and families – all staff receive extensive training and support to implement these approaches.  As a social worker you will also have access to Research in Practice and Community Care Inform and are guaranteed a minimum of 5 days per year CPD, including accredited training leading to Diploma and Masters qualifications.

The SGO Assessment Team is an expanding and exciting team to be part of.  We are evolving with enthusiasm and dedication to complete robust, complex and interesting assessments.  It is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a reforming team within Children’ Services.
