Our client is a major defence contractor based in Bristol who is looking for a Marine Systems Engineer on a permanent basis.

You will require the following skills and experience:-

• Educated to degree level in Marine Engineering/Naval Architecture.
• Experience of working in a marine engineering design environment.
• Experienced in marine systems (fuel, fire, HVAC, bilge, hydraulic).
• IT Literate (AutoCAD, Microsoft office software).
• Knowledge of shipyard working practices.
• Knowledge of classification society and SOLAS (MCA) design codes and standards.

Your roles and responsibilities will include:-

• Ensure that the design meets customer specification requirements and is fit for purpose.
• Ensure adherence to company procedures for ship design and construction.
• Produce system design from first principles based on customer specifications.
• Evaluate equipment and components for ship's systems (engines, pumps, purifiers, sewage, plant etc).
• Complete sign off of design reviews of all ships systems.
• Complete sign off of technical reviews of equipment tenders for various projects.
• Maintain database of the above reviews to show compliance with specification for final delivery.
